• ZIP code — used to determine your USDA hardiness zone and regional climate for schedule generation
• Grass type — used to generate your specific lawn care calendar
• Account information — if you create an account (name, email address, password)

Information collected automatically:

• Log data — standard server logs including IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps
• Usage data — which features you use and how often
• Cookies — small text files stored on your device to remember preferences and maintain sessions (see Section 5)

Photos and lawn images (if applicable to your account tier): If you upload photos of your lawn, these are stored on our servers and associated with your account. You can delete them at any time.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Generate your personalized lawn care schedule
• Provide and improve TurfCycle's features
• Maintain your account and saved schedules
• Send transactional emails (schedule confirmations, account notices) — no marketing emails without your consent
• Monitor service health and fix bugs
• Detect and prevent abuse or fraud

3. Data Sharing

We share data only in these limited situations:

• Service providers — third-party vendors that help us operate the service (hosting, email delivery, analytics). They process data only on our behalf and under contract.
• Legal requirements — if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of users or the public
• Business transfer — if TurfCycle is acquired or merges, your data may transfer to the new entity. We'll notify you before that happens.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on servers in the United States. We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), encrypted storage for sensitive fields, and access controls that limit who can view your data.

No system is 100% secure. If we become aware of a breach that affects your personal information, we'll notify you promptly.

ZIP codes and grass type selections are retained to improve our schedule engine. Account data is retained as long as your account is active. You can request deletion at any time (see Section 7).

5. Cookies

We use cookies for:

• Session cookies — keep you logged in during your visit (deleted when you close your browser)
• Preference cookies — remember your grass type and ZIP code for faster repeat visits
• Analytics cookies — anonymous usage data to understand how people use TurfCycle (page views, feature usage)

You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Note that some features (like staying logged in) require cookies to function.

6. Location Information

TurfCycle uses your ZIP code to determine your approximate geographic region. We do not access your device's GPS or precise location. The ZIP code you enter is the only location data we collect.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Correction — update inaccurate information in your account settings
• Deletion — request that we delete your account and associated data
• Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format
• Opt-out — unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time

8. Children's Privacy

TurfCycle is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we've inadvertently collected data from a child, contact us and we'll delete it promptly.

We'll update this policy when our practices change. For material changes, we'll notify you by email or by a prominent notice on the site. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects when this policy was last revised.
